The Lawnside Historical Society introduces the Peter Mott House Christmas ornament and collectible for sale in time for the holidays.
The replica for the Peter Mott House Underground Railroad Museum is a three-dimensional gold-plated piece delicately styled from a photograph of the house and grounds complete with the picket fence, a hint of fir trees and the outhouse.
The Peter Mott House was a station on the Underground Railroad, the secret network to freedom used by escaping slaves. Replica bears the house's construction date -1845 along with it names and location set in an oval that rings the piece. The photograph was taken by Raymond Fussell of Saddlertown, Haddon Township, the Society's official photographer.
The ornaments are sold for $12 in a bag or $15 in a box suitable for gift-giving. Proceeds go to maintenance and upkeep. To order, call 856-546-8850, e-mail lhs@petermotthouse.org or visit the Web site: www.petermotthouse.org.
