A collection of photographs, West African Passage, by Sarah J. Glover will be exhibited at the Peter Mott House in Lawnside from March 1 through April 5.
An opening reception will be held on Saturday, March 1 from 2 to 4 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults and $2 for students. The exhibit can be viewed during regular Mott House hours, each Saturday from 12 to 3 p.m.
Ms. Glover, a staff photographer for the Philadelphia Inquirer, shot many of the images while on assignment with Miami Herald columnist Leonard Pitts Jr. Mr. Pitts, a 2004 Pulitzer Prize winner, was on an odyssey to Niger and Sierra Leone following the path laid by DNA research on his ancestry. Copies of some of the images will be available for purchase.
As the winner of a National Association of Black Journalists Ethel Payne Fellowship, Ms. Glover photographed children in Sierra Leone who were orphaned by decades-long Civil War, disease or extreme poverty.
Ms. Glover holds a B.A. from Syracuse University and a master's from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. She is a member of the historical society and lives in South Jersey.
