Mrs. Fowler Wins Freedom Medal

C. Joyce Fowler, vice president of the Lawnside Historical Society, has been selected one of the 2009 Camden County Medal of Freedom Winners. She will be among the honorees at a special presentation on Friday, Jan. 23 at 8 p.m. at Camden County College, Dennis Flyer Theater, Blackwood. The free event will honor the memory of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with a musical presentation, "This Far By Faith."

Mrs. Fowler, a Camden resident, has overseen and conducted tours bringing more than 1,000 annual visitors - adults and children -- to the Peter Mott House Underground Railroad Museum in Lawnside.

Also among the honorees is Robert L. Harper, Jr., former Fire Chief for Lawnside Vol. Fire Co. No. 1 and all-around community servant. Read about the award recipients at www.camdencounty.com/mlk/recipeintsindex.html.
