Honor for Collector and Educator

The Rev. James A. Benson of Lawnside has been selected one of the 2007 Camden County Medal of Freedom winners. He will be among the recipients at a special presentation on Friday, Jan. 19 at 8 p.m. at Camden County College, Dennis Flyer Theater, Blackwood. The event will honor Rosa Parks and the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Mr. Benson founded the Valley Bible Word of Faith Christian School at 427 Pine St., in Lawnside. In addition to specially tailored educational programs, it is a repository of books, articles, photographs and artifacts relating to Lawnside History and the African American experience.
